When and How Will the World End Piano Steinway Pianos upright How to Beat Depression
Early piano replica by the modern builder Paul McNulty, after Walter & Sohn, 1805
The antique upright piano can be a nice musical instrument to bring in your home. Most vintage pianos are built very well and some have beautiful ornate designs on the wood fronts. Some basic precautions need to be taken when looking for the antique piano. The cost of repairs needs to fit in your budget. So if your budget is tight you probably should stay away from a piano that has rusty strings and a cracked soundboard. However if the beauty of the piano outweighs the repair costs then go ahead and buy any beautiful piano you find.
Some antique Pianos had shapes that are no longer used. For example the square piano, which had horizontal strings placed diagonally above the hammers. The keyboard was on the side. These pianos were popular because of their cheap prices but the quality wasn't as good because of the closely placed strings and simple internal action.
To get the best tones from your piano choose the tallest you can find. The short spinet piano may fit nicely in your home but the tone really suffers and they are a headache for your piano tuner to tune and fix. The really tall upright is like a grand piano turned upright and the tone may be similar.

Dear Antique Upright Piano Fans,
I am writing to you in behalf of your Heavenly Father. He is seeking you like a lost sheep. You remember the Bible story? It is about a shepherd who has 100 sheep. But when he brings the sheep home one night, one is missing. He then leaves the 99 sheep and goes out into the wilderness until he finds that lost sheep. In this parable the shepherd goes out to search for the one lost sheep-the very least that can be numbered. So if there had been but one lost soul, Christ would have died for that one. To read more click Lost Sheep
