Do you want a tough vehicle that will withstand collections and other road hazards? If so the Hummer is one of the best. General Motors sold the off road Hummer and based it on military vehicles that were able to travel over most terrain's with ease. The following Hummers, H2 and H3 were more street friendly for those who didn't want to be driving a tank type vehicle on the road.
The first Hummer or Hum-Vee was sold in 1992 and had high mobility and was multipurpose. This original

was the Hummer 1 or H1. Hummers can be used for disaster situations that would incapacitate any other vehicle on the road. If there are trees down the Hummer can easily drive off the road and around the obstacle.
The Hummer club was put together for owners of the Hummers to help in disaster situations. The Red Cross can also call upon club member to help out. Hummer club members are taught CPR and First Aid and off-highway skills to assist others in disasters.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a big fan of the Hummer and was the one who pushed for a civilian model of the military vehicle after seeing an Army convoy going by as he was working on a movie.
Two Humvees were tested in 1990 by driving from London to Berjing. The trip was made over the rough roads of central Soviet Union. The trip was done with ease. The Hummer also worked out really well in the Gulf War and Desert Storm
As of June 2009 the Hummer was discontinued because General Motors went bankrupt. The only way to get a Hummer now is to buy one used. There are many Hummer's for sale that are in excellent shape. Also find Hummer accessories and products.
