Boomerangs come in many shapes and sizes depending on origin. Most boomerangs are associated with aborigines from Australia but can be found in many other places like California and Arizona in the United States and Africa and Poland. The most recognizable boomerang is the throwing stick, which returns when thrown correctly. The size of the boomerang can range from 10 cm to over 2 meters. Boomerangs were once used for weapons or hunting but now most are used in competitions and as toys. In a boomerang competition the thrower must propel the boomerang at least 20 meters away to qualify. The thrower stands in a ring, which is marked so as to see the distance thrown. The Aussie Round tournament is the greatest test of skill for the boomerang thrower. In this competition the boomerang must travel at least 50 meters and return to the thrower. This tournament gives each thrower 5 tries and they gain points for distance, accuracy and the catch. If the thrower catches the boomerang behind their back they get more points. Throwing two boomerangs give you double points.

The design of the boomerang is like two wings that flies through the air in a spinning motion. When thrown high the wings produces lift and the rapid spinning causes it to fly in a curve instead of a straight line and when thrown correctly will return to its starting point. The boomerang wings are connected at an angle so the air will travel faster over one side than the other. The difference in air speed creates lift. Each wing of the boomerang is constructed to oppose the lift of the other causing the wings to try reach equilibrium resulting in the boomerang traveling in a curve instead of a straight line.

Dear Boomerang Fans,
I am writing to you in behalf of your Heavenly Father. He is seeking you like a lost sheep. You remember the Bible story? It is about a shepherd who has 100 sheep. But when he brings the sheep home one night, one is missing. He then leaves the 99 sheep and goes out into the wilderness until he finds that lost sheep. In this parable the shepherd goes out to search for the one lost sheep-the very least that can be numbered. So if there had been but one lost soul, Christ would have died for that one. To read more click Lost Sheep
