Unfortunately alligators have been allowed to multiply until a lot of ponds, rivers and lakes in Florida and the deep southern states have become extremely dangerous. People are attacked and lose pets to these hungry reptiles. If a large disaster like a flood or hurricane should swamp large parts of these states the alligators would be able to come right up to the homes and attack the helpless victims of these disasters as they tried to flee to higher ground.

A friend described a scene outside of a Florida pizza restaurant that was right beside the water. She and her family were outside eating a delicious meal at some tables provided by the establishment when a employee came out holding a pizza. The employee announced to the diners that this pizza had been unwanted and proceeded to walk out on a short dock and throw it into the water. The water seemed to boil as the alligator's shot up to the surface trying to be the first one to claim the pizza. Imagine if a child had fallen off the dock instead.
