My husband and I eat these fake meats pretty often. They replace burgers and hot dogs while avoiding all the fat and cholesterol that will harm your body. In fact I don't miss real meat with these tasty substitutes. I became a vegetarian about 20 years ago while my husband has always been one. He can't stand the thought of real meat cooking and avoids even the smell of it. Because I stopped eating meat later in life I still enjoy the smell but am never tempted.

Today we had some Amy's black bean chili and never missed the stuff with real meat. You can make corn bread with your chili and that will give you a complete protein. Meat is a complete protein in itself so when you are eating only vegetables you need to be aware what combinations will be a complete protein for your body. Mix food like corn and bean and rice and bean and you have this complete protein. From what I have heard soybeans is a complete protein in itself and that is why so many fake meats are made from it.

One day someone was working on a project at my home and they requested a sandwich. I gave him one with fake bologna and lettuce. He tasted it and told me that it was really good. I neglected to tell him that it had fake meat in it. Maybe if I had told him it would have won another to the ranks of vegetarianism.
